Campbeltown is smallest whisky producing region located on the southern tip of the Kintyre Peninsula. Only two active distilleries remain, Springbank and Glen Scotia. This region use to be a production mecca for export whisky before the world wide depression and prohibition era in the United States. It is rumored that in the early 20th century over thirty distilleries were producing whisky in the region.
