This is the second release of the Machir Bay from Kilchoman distillery, Islay’s youngest distillery. It’s vatting of first fill bourbon barrels, then married and finished in Oloroso sherry butts before it’s bottled for a couple of weeks. Even though it is very young it holds up against much older releases from it’s neighbors. A must try for every serious whisky enthusiast. Producer’s Tasting Notes:Color: Light beechNose: Soft cooked fruits with strong peaty aromas.Palate: Soft mixed fruit and vanilla with an intense sweetness.Finish: A classic Islay malt now showing the benefit of additional ageing. A long lingering finish.
