Douglas Laing

Established in 1948 by Fred Douglas Laing, at DL they specialise in the selection and release of specialist, craft Scotch Whiskies.  70 years later, Douglas Laing continue to blend and bottle Scotch Whisky just the way the Distiller intended -   select the finest, and often rarest, Scotch Whisky stocks from across all of Scotland’s Whisky regions and bottle them as: At high alcohol strength, and without colouring or chill-filtration.

Regional Malts

The Remarkable Regional Malts are the ultimate distillation of Scotland's Malt Whisky regions; each bottling embodies the overarching characteristics of the region it is sourced from and is presented to you without colouring or chill-filtration. If a Single Malt is a violin, a Blended Malt is an entire orchestra!

Old Particular
Old Particular is a particularly unique series of individually hand-selected, aged Single Cask Single Malts and Single Grains from all over Scotland. Each is bottled exactly the way the Distiller intended: without colouring or chill-filtration, and at high alcohol strength. This combination allows the cask to retain the naturally present oils, fats and enzymes in the spirit that enhance the quality of the nose, the mouthfeel and flavour profile of the Whisky. Keeping the spirit “as natural as it gets” allows you to experience the Whisky straight from the cask, transporting you to a dark, damp Distillery warehouse with every sip.

Xtra Old Particular
The “big brother” to the Old Particular range, Xtra Old Particular. XOP bottlings represent the Douglas Laing “family jewels”. We reserve the most spectacular and unique Single Casks from the family stocks to be released under this label. Each expression, presented in a luxurious wooden box, carries a heavy-weight glass stopper and individually numbered certificate and label, honouring the antique Single Malt or Single Grain it carries.

Premium Barrel
Premier Barrel is the epicurean, efficacious, evocative and elegant epitome of the finest and frankly foremost Single Cask Single Malts, prodigiously provisioned to purveyors of probity for an absolute appreciation in abundance. The Single Cask Single Malts within our Premier Barrel range are steadfastly hand-filled, always at a feisty strength of 46%, and presented to you without colouring or chill-filtration. The Douglas Laing family steadfastly swears that this ethos is essential for a palate that is perfect. Spot a subtle signal about your Scotch’s source! Indigo indicates an idiosyncratically intense Islay Malt; purple portrays a hyperbolically hearty Highland Malt and red represents a scintillatingly silky Speyside Malt.

Syndicate
In 1958, a rare blend of Scotch Whiskies was discovered within 10 casks in a warehouse owned by William Muir Bond 9 Ltd. Distilled in 1954, made to an 1800's recipe. In 1966, a quantity was bottled for the Directors and his close friends. Contains 18 Single Malts and 4 Single Grains which go through a 'Solera' system. Married a further year in selected Oloroso Sherry Butts from Andalucia, Spain. Legendary Malt Master Richard Paterson is the magic behind this delightful dram! A malty nose with touches of honey, orange cake, and pralines. Pleasingly playful palate of kumquat, plus, baklavas, marmalade and just a small touch of smoke. A finessed finished of chocolate covered coffee beans!
