Description

Founded by Irish refugees in 1825 on the outskirts of Glasgow, Auchentoshan is one of the last active distilleries in the Lowlands. In common with other Lowland (and Irish) whiskies, Auchentoshan malt whisky is distilled three times (as opposed to most Scottish malt whisky, which is distilled twice). This triple-distillation has the effect of softening the flavour and body of the end product.

Auchentoshan offerings have performed well at International Spirit Ratings Competitions. Its 16- and 18-year scotches received double gold medals at the 2008 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. The Auchentoshan Three Wood expression won "the best Scotch Whisky and Cigar Combination" in the world when paired with the Bolivar Inmensas.

On the Nose brings clean and floral with delicate fresh peach, manuka honey
and dollops of cream, initial warm spices shift quickly to a citric tang and mouth-coating candy sweetness. The finish is long, sweet and warming. A touch of peppermint appears with candy-floss and late floral notes.
