Description

Continuing on the beloved Dessert Series, this year, we proudly introduce you this single cask cognac distilled on Oleron Island in 2003.

The island of Oléron is the second largest French island after Corsica. The island has been producing wine since the 6th and 7th centuries, but some historians believe the practice dates back even further. Fortunately, Oléron was spared the worst effects of phylloxera that affected the rest of France. Although they were able to cultivate grapes in several regions, they nevertheless lost over 70% of their initial crops. With the destruction of many vines in the other parts of France, the grapes from Oléron were in high demand. This allowed winegrowers to maintain their cultivation of Folle Blanche and Colombard, the two main grape varieties used to produce Cognac.

This single cask Cognac was bottled by Jean Grosperrin at natural cask strength 52.3%, no added water, sugar and coloring. Only 196 bottles were produced and are exclusively available in The Whisky Library, Hong Kong.
