The Whisky Library's private bottle!
Glenburgie, also known as Glenburgie-Glenlivet, Glen Burgie or Glenburry, is a whisky distillery near Alves, Moray. Most of the whisky distilled at Glenburgie is used for blends, most importantly Ballantine's, but also Old Smuggler. The distillery is located on an estate at the Mill Buie hills near Kinloss. In 2000, production stopped entirely at Glenburgie. The distillery was completely rebuilt in 2003-2004, only retaining the stills from the old distillery.
Glenburgie presents a rich and complex flavor profile, showcasing enticing notes of orange caramel chocolate that harmoniously blend with a delightful sweetness from the malt. The influence of sherry cask aging is evident, contributing not only to the depth of flavor but also to the striking deep amber hue that captivates the eye.
On the palate, the whiskey reveals a full-bodied character, with a well-rounded mouthfeel that envelops the senses. Despite its impressive alcohol content of 63%, it is remarkably smooth and approachable, allowing for a comfortable drinking experience. The balance of flavors and the smooth finish make this whiskey a standout choice for both connoisseurs and those new to the spirit.
Only 666 bottles produced and bottled at cask strength ABV 63%.
