Tomatin is one of the largest distilleries in the Highlands. Yet at one point in the 1970s it was the largest distillery in Scotland: founded in 1897, the real expansion at Tomatin took place between 1956 and 1974, during which period the number of stills increased from 2 to 23.
This independently bottled Tomatin was initially matured in a single ex-Bourbon barrel number 13909 at a natural strength 55.2% ABV, this is one of just 267 bottles that comes with presentation tube.
An abundance of pear, vanilla pods, green apple and walnut on the nose, the palate brings creamy, with sweet summer Speyside barley, butterscotch and new wood. Medium-long finish with a bourbon, toffee ice cream and crème brûlée quality.
