Glen Moray distillery situated on the banks of the River Lossie in Elgin, the capital of Speyside. It is believed that the closeness of the river and the high water table produces a slightly warmer and more humid microclimate which assists maturation.
Glen Moray started life as West Brewery in Elgin run by Robert Thorne & Sons, and was converted to a distillery with 2 stills in 1897.
It was sold in 2008 by LVMH to the French distilling firm, La Martiniquaise.
This single cask from Glen Moray was distilled in Feburary 2008 and bottled in May 2023, cask reference DL17766, only 274 bottles were produced.
Nose: Aromatic, clean citric and full of fragrant mixed spices, developing to lightly toasted bread
Palate: Barley richness mouth-coats, with later vanilla cream toffee, citrus
Finish: That toast is now slightly brunt, showing loads of late Malt-based character and quality
