The Whisky Library, in addition to the Dessert Series of cognac casks, also offers this 1990 Bois Ordinaires (Oleron). This 33-year-old cognac is bottled by the renowned cognac merchant Jean Grosperrin, with only 60 bottles produced, making each one a rare treasure.
Jean Grosperrin acts as a broker in the Cognac region, moving between six different crus, connecting farmers and buyers. Now led by the second generation, Guilhem Grosperrin, his work allows him to access many discreet cognac producers and their exclusive private collections that are usually not for sale, enabling Jean Grosperrin to acquire various rare cognac casks.
Jean’s philosophy is to purchase only small-batch, rare cognacs that reflect the character of a bygone era—when vineyards were still plowed by horses, and distillation processes relied entirely on manual fire and cooling control. Each bottle embodies the weight of history and the excellence of craftsmanship.
Grosperrin stores the old vintage cognacs in government-regulated warehouses and his own cellar, all at cask strength with no additives—truly natural cognac. Their offerings are all single vintage, single crus, and single cask, making them exceptionally unique.
Jean Grosperrin Cognac has collaborated with The Whisky Library for many years, allowing us to acquire numerous high-quality cognacs through Grosperrin, including this 33-year-old Bois Ordinaires (Oleron). When you taste this Bois Ordinaires, you can experience layers of sweet mint, eucalyptus leaves, sweet oak, salty butter, and orange blossom, bringing you a sensory feast.
Tasting Notes:
Sweet mint, eucalyptus leaves, sweet oak, salty butter, orange blossom, orange marmalade.
