The first documented evidence of Blair Athol distillery on the present site dates from 1798 when John Stewart and Robert Robertson founded a distillery which they named "Aldour" - after the Allt Dour - the "burn of the otter" - which flows through the grounds from the slopes of Ben y vrackie.
On the nose, herbaceous and bright with citrus zest, boiled sweets, mint, and red apple skins. Mouth coating by lime peel, blackcurrant, black pepper, orange oil, and clove. Long finish with wine gums, herbs and a touch of florality throughout.
This Blair Athol 2006 vintage Scotch whisky from the Blair Athol distillery spent over 12 years maturing in a combo of two excellent Blair Athol casks: a 2006 Refill Barrel & a 2011 Refill Hogshead. Bottled only 547 of this delicious single malt at 50% ABV.
